Vote for Shaker Marching Band!

Thanks to all who nominated Shaker Marching Band as one of the area’s best in Cleveland.com’s Best Marching Band Contest! Shaker made it (along with 31 other bands). Now we need you to vote! The eight schools that get the most votes between now and Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 am will advance to the bracketed quarterfinals. Voting totals in this first round are important, as the quarterfinals will be based on seeds with the top vote-getter facing off against the No. 8 finisher, and so on.

Shaker's Annual Alumni/Community Band
Do you play a band instrument? Get out your instrument and join the Shaker Alumni/Community Band on October 1 at 1 pm at the Homecoming Game. The Alumni/Community Band will perform with the Shaker Marching Band at halftime. Click here for more information and to fill out a form to send to the band directors. Shaker Bands Fundraiser at Donatos

Visit Donato's Pizza on Van Aken from 3-9 pm every Saturday that we have a home football game and mention that you are with Shaker Bands.They will "dough"nate 20% of the cost of your order to Shaker Bands.  Donato's can be found at 20116 Van Aken Blvd.(283-3333). 

About the Shaker Band Program
  • The fine and performing arts are considered essentials in the Shaker Heights City School District.
  • All 5th and 6th graders in the district are required to play an instrument as part of the music program.  Students may choose to play in the band or the orchestra.There are 8 different bands at Woodbury as well as a jazz band.
  • Students who choose to continue with band for their music education at the Shaker Middle School can play an instrument in one of the 6 bands and 3 jazz bands. 
  • Superior performance and in-depth study are hallmarks of the performing arts at Shaker Heights High School. Performances are supplemented by participation in festivals, state and national competitions, and international tours.
  • In recent years, the high school band has visited Austria, Germany, France, Italy, China, Turkey and Spain.
  • There are 5 concert bands, the marching band and 3 jazz groups at the High School.
  • Shaker’s numerous High School and Middle School bands consistently receive top ratings at regional and state competitions, such as the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA). Shaker has been named a “Best Community for Music Education” by the NAMM Foundation for eight consecutive years.
